House ExtensionsA single structure combining a quiet retreat with secure storage, seamlessly.
- Location
- Barnwell, Dublin
- Project Type
- Garden Studio with Integrated Storage
Project Overview
Located in the Barnwell area of Dublin, this project involved creating a multifunctional garden studio that would give the homeowner a dedicated space away from the main house while still serving practical needs.
The client approached Shomera looking for a solution that could serve multiple purposes. They wanted a comfortable, modern garden room that could be used as a quiet retreat, but also needed secure storage for a prized motorcycle. Rather than build a simple shed and a separate garden room, the goal was to design a single structure that combined both uses seamlessly.
Client Brief
The homeowner came to Shomera wanting a comfortable garden studio separate from the main house, with secure, practical storage for a motorcycle included within it.
The space needed to feel bright, modern, and usable year-round, and the structure had to complement the garden and existing property.
Design & Build Solution
Shomera designed a custom-built garden studio with integrated storage, creating a space that balances comfort with practicality.
The studio was constructed using high-quality materials and finished with horizontal cedar cladding, giving the exterior a clean, contemporary look that blends naturally into the garden setting.
Inside, the studio provides a bright and comfortable environment suitable for relaxing, working, or pursuing hobbies. The layout was carefully planned to maintain a sense of openness while still incorporating a dedicated garage area designed specifically for secure motorcycle storage.
Large windows maximise natural light, and the insulated structure supports year-round use with secure, practical access to the storage space.
A stylish, functional space that expands how the property can be used.
The Result
The completed Barnwell garden studio delivers exactly what the client envisioned: a stylish, functional space that expands how the property can be used.
The homeowner now has a private retreat in the garden where they can relax or focus on personal projects, while the integrated storage area keeps their motorcycle protected and easily accessible.
